It is that time of year where our build schedule has finally slowed and we are all about getting ready for the holidays. We have had a very good year with many more happy customers now living in a Jim Barna Log and Timber Home.
The first news I would like to share with you is our Open House next Saturday, December 11th from 1 PM to 5 PM. This is our annual Christmas Open House where we have our model decorated for our clients and family. We invite you to spend some time with us to view our model home and ask questions about our products, the build process, financing, etc. We would enjoy your company. It has been some time since we have written to our subscriber base due to the busy building season we have had, but now we take the time to be with our families, slow down for the holidays and get ready for our 2011 show season, our build planning for our new customers and sending out a note to our potential customers who want to know more about our log and timber homes.
As some of you are aware, we have been racing the clock to beat the new building codes that will take effect on January 1, 2011. For some they have been successful in doing so and for others.... well, they will have to endure the new government regulations. Those being for the residential home owner, sprinkler systems, new electrical regulations (arc fault breakers in all rooms), blower door tests on your home and increased thermal requirements. Our industry lobbied heavy to prevent these additional items that are soon required, but as of this time we have lost that battle. It is not over, but many in our industry are very displeased by our legislators in the state of Pennsylvania. We can discuss these requirements with you and the cost impacts if you are one of those buyers who are going to build in 2011 and beyond.
